SACRIX
Titanium Triangular Implant Screw

22% of patients with low back pain and 43% with prior lumbar fusion suffer from SI Joint Pain

A LESS Exposure Advanced Spine Technology (LEASTâ„¢)

Sacrix LLC, FDA cleared since 2015, has been transforming sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion with its LESSâ„¢ Exposure Spine Surgery technology, pioneering the 100% fluoroscopic percutaneous posterior lateral-oblique SI joint fusion technique. Wholly owned by NANISX (a KIC Ventures portfolio company), Sacrix has patented titanium triangular implant (TTI) screw technologies designed for outpatient SI joint stabilization.

Guided by the LESSâ„¢ REP principles - Restore Function, Early Intervention, and Preserve Anatomy, Sacrix provides an efficient and reproducible solution for patients suffering from SI joint dysfunction and lower back pain. By shifting procedures from hospitals to outpatient centers, Sacrix enables interventional pain doctors and spine surgeons to perform faster, safer, and more effective interventional spine surgery fusions. With proven clinical outcomes, growing adoption, and expanding reimbursement coverage, Sacrix is driving the evolution of SI joint care in ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and office-based labs (OBLs).

AO Principles of Fusion

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen (AO) principles for fusion are a set of guidelines for improving fracture treatment results using internal fixation.

The AO principles of joint fusion include:

  1. Accurately and closely fitting the fusion surfaces

  2. Positioning the joint optimally

  3. Maintaining bone apposition in an undisturbed fashion

  4. Removing all cartilage, fibrous tissue, and other material that may prevent bone surfaces from contacting

The AO group was formed in 1958 by Maurice E. Müller, who was inspired by the work of Robert Danis on internal fixation and primary bone healing.

Wolff's Law of Fusion

Wolff's law states that bones adapt to the forces applied to them, becoming stronger or weaker over time. This law was developed by German surgeon Julius Wolff in the 19th century.

How Wolff's law works

  1. Bones are constantly remodeling, replacing old or damaged bone with new bone

  2. When bones are under pressure, osteoblasts produce more bone to strengthen it

  3. Bones that are not under stress become thinner and weaker.
